Mr. Merida obtained his law degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) 2002 with honours and a specialisation in Commercial law.

 

He also obtained his law degree at the University Abat Oliba CEU, Barcelona, Spain and was admitted to practice law. He is currently a member of the Madrid Bar Association.

 

He studied the Master in Advanced Studies of Sport Administration and Technology at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, 2008, Switzerland.

 

He took part in the Postgraduate in Patents and Registration of Pharmaceuticals at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Barcelona, Spain, 2005.

 

He is Masters in Intellectual Property and Information Society law, “Master Lvcentinvs” from the University of Alicante, Spain, 2003.

 

He has worked in different legal sectors, i.e., Notary Law, International Public Law as research assistant at the Institute for Legal Research at UNAM. Administrative Law, as a Lawyer of the most important public audit institution in Mexico.

 

He worked for more than eight years in two of the most prestigious Intellectual Property law firms in Spain. He is specialist in community IP matters (Europe). He has also been Intellectual Property lawyer in Mexico during several years.

 

He has been external counsel of the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry in Lausanne, Switzerland, and also was a volunteer collaborator at the Legal and Marketing departments of the Union Européenne de Football Association, UEFA, Switzerland during the Euro 2008, Switzerland-Austria.

 

He is also author of numerous articles in Intellectual Property published in specialised magazines of Spain, Latin America and Europe.

 

His main expertise deals with Intellectual Property issues, i.e. prosecution and litigation; Data Protection Law, Sports Law and Migration Law.

 

He was lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

 

He speaks Spanish, speaks fluent English, and understands French, Italian and has a basic knowledge of German.
